As you note, not all “coffee cake” actually has coffee in it, so that’s a good idea to let people know before serving it, or to maybe substitute a different ingredient. The applesauce idea sounds tasty! You’ll have to let us know how it turns out if you try it sometime.

It was so easy and I had all the ingredients in the house. I made a double batch and served half to my family the night before and everyone loved it! Just be sure to let people know that there really is coffee in this coffee cake as some people can’t have coffee (like my pastor who ate a little without knowing). Will make this again but maybe will swap out coffee and use applesauce.
