If I can find a community once I've shed myself of the unnecessary property I have I will try to find one to have me. I know much about workhorses and am qualified to teach the basics thouroughly thru 8th grade,

I'd lOve to be Amish, to have the slower life.
Doing without material thins would be fine. Having
Love and care friends and family and less worry
Would be most important! With 6 children of my
Own, I could use all the help I could get. teaching them
Love and respect. They have bone of that. They
Seem as if they could care less about everything.
And they make me feel like crap most the time.
They are very disrespectful and the teens and pre teen
Shows no love. They are lazy and won't web pick up
After theirselves. And I just can't keep up with it all.
This is not what I wanted for me or my children
Life today has changed in this world, not for the best.

I believe that the reason one might want to become Amish is the sence of belonging to family. In the Outside world, we are to busy, coming and going. not talking to each other, and are very unsettled with their lives. The Amish live a simple life in the fact they don't have to have the latest fashion , fanciest car, nor do they think that they are better than the other. The Amish still do have their problems in life.
I was raised Mennonite and as I got older, I fell away from it, and now would love to return to it or become Amish. My husband and I do try to live the Amish way, from gardening with horses, to baking Amish and being simple. but we now live in North Dakota and are not finding any Amish or Mennonite here.
Where do you live in Montana ? We are located in the N.W. part of N.D.
               Thanks for reading

I think what appeals to me is the simple lifestyle...my friend and I just went to our local amish community....at one store..pretty busy but didn't wait long in line...went to the local mall and waited in a store forever while the lady argued about her card...My friend and I looked at each other and said ...this wouldn't have happened at the amish store...to live off the land , get away from the hustle and bustle and have your day filled from sun up to sundown with either work, games, practice...it gets to be too much... I would love the amish lifestyle....but would miss my laptop

Well said. If I could give this all up to live that simple life I would. My wife is what holds me back. I grow up a farm boy. I had cattle my mom still does. My wife grew up big city. So I'm thinking I need a small plot of land to ease her into it. If I start small she'll come to learn to love it
